Kaziranga National Park: In the heart of Assam, covering an area of 430 sq-kms, is inhabited by the world's largest population of one-horned rhinoceroses, as well as many mammals, including tigers, elephants, panthers and bears, and thousands of birds. In 1985, it was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO for its unique natural environment.
Note: This is for your information that elephant ride and jeep safari and forest entry are regulated and controlled by the forest dept. Govt. of Assam. As such we do not have any control for booking of elephant seats and entry by jeeps
After an early wake up, you will be taken to the elephant safari of the national park in the early morning. In elephant safaris tourists are escorted into the jungle on the back of elephants so that they can have a closer view of the wildlife. We will also take you for jeep safari of the national park in the afternoon. In the meantime, we will show you some places around Kaziranga like orchid gardens, tea gardens, hilly streams, ethnic village models etc. The stay will be at the same place in Kaziranga.
We will set out to Shillong after breakfast. It will be a road trip through the wonderful plains and hills of northeast. After reaching there, we will take you out for sightseeing of the city. Shillong is a beautiful city of Meghalaya, most of the time covered in clouds. For the nice weather of this city, it is popularly known as Scotland of the East. The places to see here are Umiam lake (which will fall on our way to Shillong), Wards Lake, Lady Hyadri Park and Don Bosco Museum. We will stay there.
After breakfast we trek to Single Decker Living Root Bridge - 3-4 hours from the Resort. Distance 4 km down and up 1000 feet approx. This trek starts from the Resort premises and goes down hill through village Sohsarat. The steps are relatively steeper in two short stretches. Half the distance is covered by steps going down hill. Then there is a jungle path going along the sides of the hill leading to the Living Root Bridge with a few steps after short stretches of sloping foot path. Moss thrives on these sandstone steps during the monsoon and makes them slippery. Back trek to resort and evening at leisure with local music placed by the local boys. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.
In the morning we will return from there and visit two small places of Meghalaya. Mawlynnong is a small village famous for its cleanliness. It is also called as the cleanest village in Asia. There is also a living root bridge in Mawlynnong just like in Cherrapunji. We will then go to Dawki, just 20 kilometres south of Mawlynnong. Dawki is a town situated in the border of India and Bangladesh. There is a river named Umngot river in that place famous for Dawki bridge and boating. After visiting the places in Dawki, we will return to Shillong to stay there.
We will take you to Guwahati to drop you at the airport. If there is some time available with us, we will show one or two places around Guwahati like the Kamakhya temple, or Srimanta Sankardev kalakshetra, or Deepor Beel.
